Aux arks here we come

My first attempt at blogging from an Ipad, so it will be brief!

We are in Missouri and have been following roads close to the Mississippi south from La Crosse, WI to Blanchard Springs, Arkansas: gateway to the Three Days of Syllamo Race in The Ozarks. And who knew Ozarks came from the French aux Arks or aux arcs? Not me.

We are all packed in the Ford Windstar, even my mom, who seems to enjoy making these adventures possible.

SR has been telling me I will win this whole race for months. This whole race is a 50k tomorrow, a 50 miler the next day and a half marathon on Sunday. But Ashley Nordell will win, likely outright. Meghan Hicks will also beat me. But no one will stop me from shining on the inside and outside and loving every aspect of this adventure. Just a question of whether my left foot can endure 50,000feet of elevation change over three days.

SR will run the 50k tomorrow and the half marathon on Sunday. I promise pictures.

Is anyone else totally preoccupied by thoughts about whether or not Piccola Pinecone is in labor?

50,000 feet in elevation change? I am trying to wrap my head around that incredible figure. That's up and down right? So basically climbing Whitney twice. Oh and running 150 + km. Wow. Good times! (not meant sarcastically). I hope you have a ball!
p.s. contractions are about 24 HOURS apart at this point if that answers your question...

p.s. what does it mean to win outright as opposed to win? are you predicting she will beat all the mean as well or does outright mean winning every stage?

I am glad you're not pre-occupied with winning and planning to enjoy it. I find that I run better time - and manage my race better - when I know someone else is likely to kill it (time-wise) and I have no pressure on. Ashley owns this race for sure, but it doesn't mean you won't have grand time. I hope SR will find fun too.

I wonder whether PPC already has that baby or not couple times a day:)

I have NO idea what 50 000 feet in elevation means but it sounds like a lot! I hope your foot holds up.
And when you start saying that you will not win, you likely will not. Unless of course it is based on hard unquestionable facts, then even believing that you can win won't help to make it happen.

Anyway, good luck and have fun!

Best song of 2012 so far: "Andrew in Drag" by The Magnetic Fields. Certainly won't help my reputation for liking it, but man it's catchy!

Wow, what a weekend! Enjoy the races.

p.s I just signed up for Afton 50K, I'll have to pick your brain for training advice. Don't worry, sure you will beat me :-)

You're a machine. I love it! Kick ass job to you and SR out there. And what a gift from your parents to babysit! Our in-laws watch the kids when we run TCM in October every year, and it's so nice!

Congrats on some great races.
